“Hot Coffee to Scrambled Eggs
to Nuclear Submarines”
The Story Behind B.O.O.S.T.
Growing up dirt poor as a child in Hot Coffee Mississippi, Robert Crosby shares his inspiring journey from Navy cook to Navy Nuclear Engineer aboard U.S. submarines. Growing up in one of America's poorest parts of the country, the Mississippi Delta, Robert dared to dream big using his formula: Attitude and Work Ethic (AWE).
As one of few African American Nuclear Submarine Officers, the premise behind this book was to inspire and empower underserved youth and reflect how the Navy can not only fight and win wars, but also change lives. Recalling his own experience, Robert created B.O.O.S.T. to give hope to at-risk students and ensure they too, as he did, have the opportunity to reach their maximum potential and achieve dreams. |
Attitude + Work Ethic = A.W.E.SOME

USN LCDR Robert Crosby, Founder of BOOST, is from Hot Coffee, Mississippi located in Southern Mississippi. Robert was reared in a community where BOOST is needed most-The Mississippi Delta, the poorest region in Mississippi. Robert utilized a postive attitude and strong work ethic (A&W) to end the GPC for his family and became a nuclear engineer in the U.S. Navy. With his success, he never forgot his “home” and desires to impact children in his community and beyond. |
