We Enjoyed a wonderful day visiting a hidden gem in Hattiesburg, Mississippi-The African American Military Museum. The Boost: Broadened Opportunity for Outstanding Student Selection and Tracking students enjoyed talking a walk through history to understand African American contributions to every war fought by our beloved country. It was an amazing experience.

He also mentored young high school scholars from underrepresented communities in Detroit interested in pre-health and shadowed different specialties in medicine with the desire to become a professional in the medical industry upon graduating for Jackson State University.

We are super proud of her!
We are super proud of her!
Enjoyed watching the ASU vs JSU game with the Boost: Broadened Opportunity for Outstanding Student Selection and Tracking (BOOST) students. This was the first time that most of them saw a Collegiate football game. Our hope is that the fun and excitement of college football will motivate them to graduate high school and attend a college or university. It was a long day but to see the twinkle in their eyes and a hope for tomorrow was worth it as one of our students lost both parents recently.
Excellent time inducting three new students into the BOOST program. They received a college scholarship while they are still and middle and junior high school. All they have to do is to earn A’s and B’s, stay alcohol and drug free, and participate in our enrichment activities. Welcome to Cardarius, Maurio and Haley! We spent the evening getting to know the new students and trying to beat them in bowling. Unfortunately the students beat the parents handedly. Thank you to our dedicated county Director Tommie Matthews for pulling everything together and to make sure the event was a success. The next event will be held at the Collins Veterans Home where our students will give back to those that have served this nation. After that we plan to visit the Jackson State University versus Alcorn State University football game. Should be an exciting year for everyone.

BOOST KICKS OFF THE 2019-2020 SCHOOL YEAR

Earlier this year, the Covington County Boosters participated in a banking seminar where they were taught the basics of balancing a check book and other banking principles. After having a terrific Mexican lunch, the Boosters went to see the Lady Eagles of USM battle the Lady Monarchs of ODU.
